English singer, songwriter and model, Sophie Ellis-Bextor will kick off Ladies Day in style in the Aintree Pavilion on Aintree’s Fabulous Friday at 5.30pm, with some of her greatest hits such as her top 10 hit, Murder on the Dancefloor, her 2011 single, Bittersweet and Young Blood from her highly regarded album Wanderlust, which reached number 4 in the UK album charts in 2014.
With the after-show parties in the Red Rum Lawn being a huge success over the past three years, Aintree is delighted to announce the return of the popular broadcaster and Radio 2 presenter, Jo Whiley who will be DJ’ing and entertaining the crowds on Ladies Day at 6.30pm, after a superb day of racing on the track.
Jo Whiley, said: “This is going to be a fantastic day at Aintree Racecourse. I always love DJ’ing at race meetings as the crowds are always in a great mood after a day’s superb action on the track.
“Liverpool is a wonderful city, and Aintree is at the forefront of supporting and celebrating women in racing so I cannot wait for 7th April – it is going to be such a big party!”
Aintree has already announced popular Liverpool alternative rock band, The Lightning Seeds will headline Grand Opening Day and will announce the Grand National Day entertainment in due course.

With Liverpool chart toppers, The Lightning Seeds already announced to open the Festival on Grand Opening Day, we feel there’s something for everyone and we hope all racegoers enjoy a thrilling day of racing on the track then come and enjoy these exciting performances.
