The fourth Aintree Grand Women’s Summit, in partnership with Women in Racing, will be hosted on Ladies’ Day of the 2018 Randox Health Grand National Festival, Friday 13th April.
Tickets are on sale now for what has been a sell out event in the first three years.
The Aintree Grand Women’s Summit was devised by Aintree Racecourse and Women in Racing in 2015 and celebrates women in horseracing, sport and business. Guests are provided with an informative, educational networking opportunity whilst being able to experience one of the largest horseracing festivals in the world.
This year’s exciting event will kick off with breakfast and a panel discussion to be steered by Sally Nugent, from BBC Breakfast. Aintree Ambassador Sam Quek will be back following her excellent insight into her world of sport at 2017’s event.
Sam will also be joined by Vicky Gosling OBE. Vicky is Chief Executive Officer of the Rugby Centurions and the Strategic Advisor for the UK Delegation for Invictus Games, having been both the CEO Invictus Games 2016 and the Executive Military Lead for the Inaugural Games in 2014. Vicky will bring extensive and interesting insights into her roles in sport and the military. The full line of speakers will be announced over the next few weeks.
Aintree Racecourse and Women in Racing are delighted that the 2017 Grand National Winning Trainer, Lucinda Russell and eight-time Champion jockey, Peter Scudamore will be leading the course walk with the most successful female jockey in Grand National history and Aintree Ambassador Katie Walsh. Former Champion National Hunt Lady jockey, Carrie Ford and Aintree historian, Jane Clarke will also lead guests around the iconic course.
Following the course walk guests will return to the Paddock Lodge for a well-earned glass of Moet champagne and two course lunch. The Paddock Lodge will be available for use for the rest of the day as the action-packed afternoon of top class jump racing gets underway from 1.40pm.
Sam Quek said: “It’s an honour to be part of the Grand Women’s Summit and the Randox Health Grand National Festival for a second year. The Summit is a fantastic initiative to bring women’s sport to the forefront and even better on the world class stage of Ladies Day. Aintree always delivers as a spectacle for all and I can’t wait to see what the ladies of Liverpool deliver this year as the fashion spotlight shines on them once more.”
Vicky Gosling OBE is a passionate sportswoman and dedicates most of her spare time promoting sport across various sectors. She is Chief Executive for the Rugby Centurions and is also the Armed Forces Councillor for the Lawn Tennis Association and works closely with the Tennis Foundation, widely promoting Wheelchair Tennis.
Vicky Gosling said: “I’m thrilled to join the panel for the Grand Women’s Summit alongside Sam. Being from Liverpool I know how important the Grand National is to the local community but also the sporting landscape of the UK. So, for Aintree to host this debate on Ladies Day of the Grand National Festival is fantastic and I look forward to meeting like-minded people and discussing women in sport and business.”
John Baker, Regional Director for Aintree Racecourse, said: “We are delighted that the Grand Women’s Summit has become a sell-out event and over the years has attracted sporting superstars such as Dame Sarah Storey, Beth Tweddle, Maggie Alphonsi and Judy Murray. I’m delighted that Sam Quek has agreed to be a panellist and ambassador for Ladies Day for a second year. Sam is an inspiring and successful local sportswoman – we’re thrilled to have her as part of the team.
“Also, delighted to welcome Vicky Gosling OBE on board to give her unique insight into her life in the military, her various roles in sport and being the CEO of the Invictus Games. We’re looking forward to making the Grand Women’s Summit, in partnership with Women in Racing, even more special this year and we will be announcing further high-profile panellists from the world of sport and business in due course.”
Julie Deadman, Chair of Women in Racing, said: “I am delighted that the Grand Women’s Summit will be returning to the Randox Health Grand National Festival in April 2018. The Summit goes from strength to strength and it is very rewarding to be able to continue our involvement with Aintree Racecourse and Jockey Club North West. It is very exciting that Sam Quek will be returning and we very much look forward to hearing from Vicky Gosling OBE as part of another excellent Grand Women’s Summit”.
